During our road trip God’s taught us much about community and what a deeper walk with him, and with others, can look like. There will be surrender and sacrifice, but there will also be joy and fullness is measures rarely experienced. A few weeks into our US trip I felt the Lord leading me to commit this time, between the end of our road trip and beginning of staff training, to my friend Eli and the vision God has given her for this city. It’s pretty exciting, especially now that Andrew and Haley with also be joining us. We're not really sure what we’re getting ourselves into, but what we do know is that God has a plan and He is faithful beyond measure (try measuring His faithfullness, I dare you ;). Amsterdam has a special place in His heart and Elizabeth’s, and will in mine very soon :). Our “plan” is still developing, but we hope to do a miniature version of what the US road trip has been, discovering ministry opportunities, seeing how God is moving there and exploring what setting up a community there could look like. Towards the end of this trip we plan to catch a ferry over to the UK, where an uncle of Eli's lives, and spend a week or so connecting with the YWAM London base. England holds a special place in my heart, and has for a while, so I’m looking forward to seeing what God has in store for us there. :)
AWAKEN Road Trip: Yep, we bought a van. The six of us all chipped in to pay for "Wallace," a 1998 Dodge conversion van from New Hampshire. We had to put $130 of work into him initially, to help with his sway bar "not being attached" problem. But a church had taken an offering for us the day before we ended up taking him to the shop and gave us, in cash, that exact amount we ended up needing. God is so good. One month into our trip we've put about 7,000 miles on the van and he's still running great! Woo hoo!
It's been an amazing time of growing together as a team, sharing meals and conversations with some incredible followers of Jesus, getting perspective on how God is moving around the US, and having our minds blown daily as God reveals more and more of who He is and how deeply his heart burns for each of us. He is so cool.
